One step closer….

Nutwood Early June To summer!

We're having a big warm-up here at Nutwood, and it is very welcome! This is a picture from June of last year, and I can hardly wait for it to be this lush and green!

I went out today to take the covers off of the patio furniture and put the cushions on. I was successful with the tête-à-tête chair, but Ken had stacked the table on top of the chairs, and I couldn't lift it off. I'll ask him to do that when he gets home, and tomorrow I'll put on the cushions. I want to have those chairs ready, because I want to sit out on the deck tomorrow and soak up some sun! They're talking 80°, and I feel that I am lacking in Vitamin D! It was still a little too cool to sit outside today, and the tête-à-tête is underneath the overhang, so it would have been too chilly in the shade. Tomorrow sounds great, and the weekend should also be nice. I think it might finally be time to switch out my summer and winter clothes. Yay!

I've just been puttering today. Filled the bird feeders, entered a few more phenology records (and will do more in a moment), and had an interesting email exchange with a friend. The details don't matter, but it was definitely an interesting exchange!

When I was taking the cover off of the table and chairs, I saw that something had ripped it to shreds. I'm guessing a raccoon. It wasn't entirely destroyed, but there are big enough holes that I don't think it will offer much protection next winter. I was irritated, but it made me think of the great Blondie song! Shane and I got to see one of our favorite punk/new wave bands when we saw Blondie at the Riviera in Chicago several years ago. I think this video was from the same tour. Debbie rocks! "Yeah, you know her, won't you look at that hair? Yeah, you know her...she's so dull...rip her to shreds!"

  1. I don't know ... I liked this song, but between 'Tide Is High' and 'Hangin' on the Telephone', one of the two were my fave Blondie songs.

    But this works too!

  3. I'm ready for some porch-sitting myself. But today it went straight from a cool Tulsa spring to TOO DAMN HOT! It was 92 degrees today! I was too busy to sit out anyway. Oh well....

  5. Between that lush shot & the turkeys I know visit, I'd love being out there in great weather, maybe even in not so great weather. If I sit in my back yard I can see the neighbor's broken down vans all over his grass, and old furniture. Yeah, good times.

    The weather was beautifully sunny & warm here as well. ~Mary

  6. I know you will be so happy to see warmer weather. I spent the last two weeks in KY and the dogwoods, redbuds and tulip trees were georgous. Enjoy! {{hugs}}

  11. Your yard looks gorgeous....an oasis!

    We hit the 80s yesterday and will be up there today and tomorrow. We had such nice weather last weekend that we grilled and ate outside.

  13. I am back and I really do believe I was out of it when I met that Dr. in the hospital. I do know he was very arrogant and made some remarks like, " you do not leave this bed until I have been here" Then he came in when I was very sick to my stomach and my regular doctor was there and a nurse and he said " well she is not fit to be around". Today he was very thorough and would you believe he is sending me for an MRI from front on the neck injury I had and the thoracic. I said whaT IS THAT AND HE SAID THE FRONT OF ME. I go tomorrow. I asked him if it is just all old age and he said he didn't think so. Thank you Beth for your very kind words. I feel like such a whiner but believe me I would not be going through all this stuff if I didn't feel rotten.
