Beth + Ken = Hercules

Proving once again that two are greater than one, Ken and I put the hurt on the piles of STUFF in the garage. Grrrr, take that, Stuff! While he was being a despot, or something like that, I finished the signs, got the ad placed, and started setting things up and pricing them. I got three tables of things priced, and when Ken got home, we decided to work into the evening to really get a handle on it. He switched out the washer and dryer (thanks to Ken's Mom and stepdad for the almost-new pair!) and we got the rest of the tables set up. We have so much stuff that I called Mom and said they should bring a couple more tables. Our original plan was to use just the double side of the garage, but that plan has been modified, and we will be using all three bays in the garage, plus putting some stuff out in the driveway. This is ridiculous.

I do think we'll make some decent money, though. Nothing like my folks several years ago...they had a log cabin with all sorts of antiques and collectibles. When they moved out of that place, they sold a lot of that stuff and their garage sale netted them about 20 grand. Haha! Now that is a garage sale!

I missed all of the live coverage of Michael Jackson's memorial service, but I'm okay with that. I caught the highlights on Dateline tonight, and that was enough.

I'm a tired puppy. We got the bulk of it taken care of, though, and that's a big relief. More soon!

(Pssst. That squirrelly looking fellow hanging around the edge is from the IRS.)

  3. Holy shit... 20 grand? Holy... wow.
I watched some of the service. Not on purpose. I was at the kid's dr. appointment and it was the only thing on in the waiting room. I caught the part where Paris was on. Poor kids. And now they are going to be caught up in this shit storm.
    Love,

  4. I really didn't care about the service and turned it on near the end. That little girl made me tear up though.

  5. Hope the sale is a big success! I didn't watch any of the service, so I don't have a comment ... but am watching how I address his death. He meant more that I thought he did to some people. I have my own opinion on that, but will keep that to myself.

  7. I hope all of your efforts for your garage sale go well. I watched part of the ceremony. I was more emotinal at times of the somgs. Like Gone to Soon fit my son no matter the difference in talent. " Smile" I have never been a Jackson fan but as I told my husband a mother lost her son, no matter how many horrible things he did, He was her son and she loved him unconditionaly. I can only pray he did nothing to his own kids. and he could dance. That is about the only thing I can say.

We had a sale when we moved from Miami to Smallville and netted enough for a burger and fries along the way.

  9. One of my friends from college had a FREE Sale in their front yard. She cleaned out her basement in order to make room for baby stuff since she is adopting a kid from Korea. Anyhow, she did not want to go throught the hassle of doing a garage sale, or ebay/craig's list, so as they moved the stuff out of the house they put on tags saying it was free. I have yet to find out if everything was taken but THAT is the ultimate in "reduce, reuse, recycle!"
