It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you

My pal Possum has pointed out something that I've been noticing for a couple of days now.

You know those word verification letters that some people use to screen out spam on their blogs? I've been noticing that lately a lot of them are starting to make...actual words. Not necessarily English words, but words that can be pronounced. In fact, I don't know what language this might be, but if I were a raging paranoiac, I might start thinking that Blogger is trying to communicate with us. Consider this: "Sheri, Mictin tansher cruntri, Crepo blittili; Simellid bilingen dinedys. Fuwho? Cultil, Ringo."

Who are Sheri and Ringo? And why are they sending cryptic messages to each other through Blogger? If one of us can crack this code, we could possibly expose one of the greatest conspiracies the world has ever imagined. Or possibly the universe, because how can we be certain that Sheri and Ringo are of this Earth? They could be Other. It could be Us vs. Them. We need to get crackin', people. The future of our world could depend on us!

Hey! Did you guys hear a voice?! [eyes darting] I think they're on to me. If you don't hear from me again, you'll know. Don't give up! No surrender! Liberté, égalité, fraternité, ou la mort! Wait, that's French. Don't mess with those bozos. They're over there in that there Paris, France, probably at that stupid Pasteur Institute, messin' around with fruit flies. And don't think that it's a coincidence that they're called "fruit" flies! You all know about the liberal fruit fly agenda, don't you? If not, email me your address. I'll send you a pamphlet.

Did you all catch Thursday night's Weekend Update? One of the things that had us cracking up was Fred Armisen and his Mega Map. I'm intrigued by the touchscreen technology that Microsoft is beginning to market to businesses, and one of my favorite things to see is John King and his map on CNN. You know...he enlarges states, circles cities, changes states from red to blue...it's amazing! Fred Armisen's take on it was hilarious, and I heard that the guy who is in charge of CNN's map actually trained him in the "Mega Map's" operation. This is the entire Weekend Update segment, but Fred's part is about a minute into it. I especially like what he does with Michigan at the end. Ha ha! It's not allowing me to embed, so check out the Mega Map here!

  1. I think you may be on to something. Oh by the way, ALL the French can't be fruits or there wouldn't be so many of them! :)

  3. You have a point, I usually fail the first time I try to put those crazy letters in the box but now have found if I make them into a word I can usually get it.

I see a best seller in the words, call it the BloggerCode and you may have a hit.

  6. Hey, I noticed one that said "bEtHkEn" a few days ago!! You better be VERY CAREFUL!! I think they're reading your blog, they'll figure you out, and may start infiltrating Nutwood Junction before you know it!!! And I heard they use deer, coyotes, and possums as spies.

  7. I hate those verification letters. Sometimes they are so distroted that I can't see them clearly even through my trifocals! Now that you ahve alerted me to the possibility that they are being used to send cryptic messages, I really don't like them. Total nonsequitor, those gigner snaps in that picture to the right look so good that I may have to venture out to the nearest bakery.

  8. Thursday's opening skit and the mega map were instant classics. Every other line in the opening skit was hilarious.
I figured they would eventually crack on CNN's technology. I'm shocked it took this long. I loved it when he moved New Hampshire to Mexico!!!!

  9. sometimes i feel like i have dyslexia when i have to type those letters for the word verification because the letters seem to swim around. Maybe it is my bad left eye acting up. I can not stand having to type the letters but i whine about so many other things why add that to the list?! LOL

  12. I have noticed the word verification has been spelling some real words lately? Some of them I can't repeat for fear of THEM, and I'm glad you noticed it too! What was that, I think it was the verification wor.....! No it was just another RoboCall on the Machine! I loved the map skit, and Fred, since his days on "Mr. Show" I have really noticed that they have been spelling some words, and it seems too easy, a little too easy! :)

  14. I think you're right, these capchas could be secret communiques for the world invasion scheduled for 12-21-2012. Today the message was zibga! (oh no!)
If you keep writing this way you're going to have to include a spew warning. " Do not sip that coffee while reading this entry!"
    Have a great day!

  15. You know the word association game we used to play when we first began learning to read...for some freaking reason it works on getting those letters right on the first try. I can see someone gets the delusion it was a conspiracy though. I was starting to think it was strange, the words were making more sense to me. Then someone said the letters are taken from key points or words from the actual entry. Hmmm maybe there is a hidden code after all. (Hugs)Indigo

  16. yes; actually I'm seeing more words and not just random letters strung together; isn't that weird? yesterday I got one that was tators and I was reading Laini's entry about mashed potatoes; that was freaky (not her entry but the word verification)
