I got a fever!

For more cowbell! And for hockey!

Oh my God, I loved it! It was fun to watch the Zambonis, they played kickass music, and it was really loud! They were playing "Enter Sandman" by Metallica when the teams came skating out. Our seats were right behind one of the goals, and when they started sending those pucks towards the net, they were smacking into the glass. I was all, "Yikes!" and "Whoa!" I couldn't believe how fast the action was, and it was kind of hard to follow when they were at the other end, but when they were at our end, it was a great view. We were only five rows up, and when they checked in front of us, it reminded me of cartoons when a character goes "splat" against a window and their face is all mushed. (Of course, that didn't really happen. They all wore helmets.)

I don't think it's going to replace basketball and football in my little sporting world, but it was a helluva lot of fun. I would definitely go again. I'm not sure how the playoffs work for college hockey, but Ken thinks this is the division playoffs. They go to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit next--I think those are the semifinals.

Notre Dame hockeyI think what really struck me was the speed of it all. I told Ken that I can hardly even walk on ice, and these guys were speed skating the length of the rink, skating backwards, passing the puck on the fly (don't transpose the two starting consonants of those words!)...it was impressive!

And yes, there really were cowbells! A few people brought their own, but it was cowbell night, and we got little green cowbells to ring. That was fun!

  1. Glad you liked it, and only a few small fights broke out :o) The refs did a good job of not letting it get out of hand.

  2. I have always thought that if a person saw a game live, they would come away from it with at least a great appreciation for the sport!

Man, hockey and figure skating are some super difficult sports! It is impossible to think that I once played hockey! (ees true, I tell you!)

I have went some Peoria Riverman games as a kid and loved everyone. It's not my top sport but is a great one. I might get into a lot more if I could skate better than a 6 year old. I'm glad you had a good time at the game.

I love Chris Walken and that skit, I just watched it on one of my Best od DVD's. I how Will gets into that bell and the other members reactions to it. "More Cowbell" "Gold records" Parnell's resistance makes it even funnier. I love how he returns to 30 rock every now and then.

If only you could hear my impressions, I would have you rolling on the floor in tears, urinating in your pants! Ok, maybe not the rolling on the floor. Ha Ha

I hope you and Ken have a good Sunday!

    Peace&Love

  4. I'm glad you discovered hockey!
Sitting up close to the action is a blast.
I've never been to an ND hockey game, but should try it some time. I've been to hundreds of Fort Wayne Komet hockey games. The Komets always embraces loud rock and it creates a great atmosphere.
If you think a 1-0 game is fun, try one with some scoring. And fights!
Were there an fights at the game? I don't think that's part of the college game.
    Sorry to ramble ...

  5. Beth, I love it when you get all excited about something! You're so cute! I'm glad you liked the game. I went to one hockey game and the puck flew off the ice and hit a lady in the head about 1/2 way up in the arena. Scared me silly! Wear a helmet!

  6. Is it disturbing that I think it's cool when blood and/or vomit bounce on the ice? Hockey rocks. LOL

  7. I care nothing for hockey, but God do I ever love that SNL skit! It's my absolute favorite, except for the one with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley dancing like chippendale dancers.
    Lovish!

  8. Cow bells the first time, blow horns the next time. Go a few more times and you'll be hooked line and puck. It's an atmosphere thing you don't get at other sports. Sorta addictive. I'm glad you had a great time, you didn't say, where there any good fights??
